Each category covers a distinct field of professional activity. Award recipients are selected by the Council based on the totality of their verified achievements.
Five Categories of Professional Recognition
Award Categories
Award for Methodological Innovation
Recognizing the development and implementation of an original expert methodology registered in the IAE-IPR Registry and subjected to independent collegial review. A prerequisite for nomination is a Certificate of Contribution (COC)—a document recording the date on which the methodology was submitted and confirming its professional recognition by independent peers.
IAE Distinguished Award Grand Prix
The Association’s highest award.
It is presented in recognition of an outstanding cumulative contribution to the advancement of international expert practice over a period of at least five years. No more than one Grand Prix may be awarded in any calendar year. The Council may decide not to present the award in a particular year.

Award for Expert Practice
Recognizing outstanding professional practice in international arbitration, judicial proceedings, or government expert-assessment procedures. Consideration is given to a verified record of participation in proceedings before the ICC, LCIA, ICSID, and national courts.
Rising Expert Award
Recognizing exceptional achievements by a professional with no more than seven years of practical experience. The award celebrates promising professionals who are shaping the next generation of international expert practice.
A special award category may be announced annually by decision of the Council.
Award for Academic Excellence
Recognizing an outstanding contribution to academic literature in the fields of professional verification, forensic science, or related disciplines. Consideration is given to publications in peer-reviewed journals and their citation impact.
The Grand Prix is the most prestigious IAE award. It is not open to applications or nominations. The Higher Certification Council initiates consideration of a candidate independently, based on the totality of verified information contained in the IAE Registry and available from public sources.

Grand Prix Award Criteria
The Council considers the combined weight of the following factors:
- Fellow of the Association status, F.IAE, held for at least five years
- Verified publications in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals
- Participation as an expert in international arbitration or judicial proceedings
- An original methodological contribution verified through the IAE-IPR Registry
- No disciplinary sanctions throughout the entire period of IAE membership
- Recognition by the professional community in at least three jurisdictions
The IAE awards procedure is entirely independent of the application process. The Council relies exclusively on verified information and maintains confidentiality until the names of the award recipients are officially announced.

Current IAE members holding SM, CIE, or F.IAE status may nominate colleagues through the secure form on the website. Self-nominations are not permitted. Each nomination must include a detailed justification and references to verified information in the IAE Registry.
The IAE Secretariat verifies all declared achievements using: the IAE Registry, primary sources, publicly available databases. Information that cannot be independently verified is excluded from consideration.
The Council holds a closed meeting, reviews the verified candidate dossiers, and makes its decision through a collegial vote supported by written reasoning. Only the candidate’s achievements influence the decision. No quotas or commercial considerations are applied.
The names of award recipients are announced publicly. Each recipient receives an official certificate issued by the Council and is entered in the global IAE Distinguished Award Laureates Registry.
The IAE Distinguished Award is presented by an independent international professional association and is comparable in purpose to industry awards administered by leading professional organizations worldwide. The complete award regulations are available in the official IAE documents.

Who May Submit a Nomination?
Current IAE members holding one of the following statuses: Senior Member, Certified International Expert, Fellow of the Association. The nominator must have direct knowledge of the candidate’s achievements and be prepared to provide a detailed justification.
Who May Be Nominated?
Any current IAE member, regardless of membership category. The candidate must have an active entry in the IAE Registry. Self-nominations are not permitted and will not be considered.
What Must Be Included?
The nomination must include: the candidate’s full name, the candidate’s Member ID, the selected award category, a description of the candidate’s achievements consisting of 500–1,000 words, references to verifiable sources. A link to the candidate’s profile in the IAE Registry is strongly encouraged.
Timeline
Nominations accepted: September 1–October 31. Award recipients announced: December. Nominations submitted outside this period will be considered during the following award cycle.
Confidentiality
The identities of nominators and the contents of nomination submissions are not disclosed to candidates or third parties. Candidate dossiers are considered confidentially by the Council.
