Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor at the Department of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnics, NRU MGSU
About
Geotechnical scientist and research manager, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor at the Department of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnics of the National Research University Moscow State University of Civil Engineering (NRU MGSU). He has worked at the university for more than 19 years, from assistant to Vice-Rector for Research and Scientific-Technical Activity (2022-2025), headed the Geotechnics research and education centre for more than ten years and led the Institute of Construction and Architecture. Scientific director of the Z. G. Ter-Martirosyan Research Institute of Geotechnics.
Research interests: soil mechanics under static, cyclic and vibration loads, rheology of clay soils, interaction of piles and deep foundations with the ground, settlement forecasting during tunnelling, including machine learning methods, with applications in high-rise, underground, transport and nuclear construction. Presidium member of the Russian Society for Soil Mechanics, Geotechnics and Foundation Engineering, member of ISSMGE and ASCE, member of editorial boards and councils of six Russian engineering journals.
Author of about 200 scientific works, monographs and textbooks, including the 945-page textbook Soil Mechanics in High-Rise Construction with a Developed Underground Part. Co-author of five invention patents, including the pile-drain technology for the power units of Kursk NPP-2, later applied in civil construction. He led the scientific and technical support of high-rise, unique and nuclear facilities and developed and verified an AI-based settlement prediction algorithm for Moscow Metro tunnelling.
